was Grandma to everyone, that’s the way she wanted to be known. She would give children a “little something” to buy ice cream or money for school books. She was an excellent cook. Pulling her little shopping cart, she would shop early in the morning and was known at local meat markets, fish markets and vegetable stands to only want the very best. She would whip up a savory meal for anyone who came to visit. Her fishcakes and coconut drops were famous. Her main piece of information for all who came to her kitchen table and sat for tea was, “Trust God.”
praised God by the way she honored the everydayness of life. Mowing the lawn, sweeping, ironing, consoling, setting the dinner table, cutting a piece of cake, washing the dishes, greeting a neighbor, humming a hymn. She filtered everything she did through God’s love; that upgraded every moment with her to the level of special occasion.
